Odisha pays tribute to Netaji, Surendra Sai on birth anniv

Bhubaneswar, Jan 24: Glowing tributes were paid to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and renowned freedom fighter Veer Surendra Sai on their birth anniversaries across the State on Saturday.

People and political leaders paid floral tributes at the statues of the two sons of the soil.The 119th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and 207th birth anniversary of legendary freedom fighter Veer Surendra Sai was celebrated.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik paid floral tributes at the statue of Netaji at Cuttack.

“Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose is the son of our soil. Cuttack is witness to his early life. His life is an example of rarest courage and patriotism. We all are proud of him. I pay my heartfelt tribute to him on his birth anniversary,” Patnaik said after paying tributes at Netaji’s birthplace in Odia Bazaar.

The chief minister inaugurated an album comprising of the Indian National Army (INA) freedom fighters from Odisha on the occasion.

Netaji’s birth place in Cuttack witnessed a huge footfall with people from various walks of life making a beeline to the museum to offer their tribute.

Similarly, glowing tributes were paid to Veer Surendra Sai was paid at Sambalpur where speakers at different functions recalled his sacrifice during the freedom struggle.
