Odisha Police to intensify anti-Maoist operation: DGP

Bhubaneswar, Jan 16: The Odisha Police will intensify operation against the Maoists in Left Wing Extremism hit areas to tackle the menace.

Director General of Police (DGP) KB Singh said in Koraput on Friday that 2015 was immensely successful for the security forces in terms of operation against the Maoists and added that the red rebels were losing their base.

He said the desperate ultras were engaged in mindless killing of innocents as they have no base support and are frustrated.

Singh said the State Police has excellent relationship and coordination with the Central forces and combing operation with them has yielded good results.

At present, 16 battalions of Border Security Force (BSF) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel are deployed in the Maoist prone districts of the State.
