Bhubaneswar: Odisha is experiencing severe cold wave with temperatures dropping across the state. Many areas are witnessing freezing conditions with temperatures recording below 10 degree Celsius in some places. More than 20 cities are now colder than 15 degree Celsius. The regional centre of Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted no significant change in the weather for the next three days.
According to the recent reports from the meteorological department, the state will experience dense fog in the next two days from today. It has warned of thick fog in districts like Koraput, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, and Ganjam. Daringibadi, often called as ‘the Kashmir of Odisha’, is witnessing very cold mornings and heavy fog.
The industrial city of Angul is also feeling the bite of winter with temperature dipping below 10 degree Celsius. The district’s interior regions of Satakosia, Tikarapada, and Nagirahas recorded the coldest temperature between 6 degree Celsius to 7 degree Celsius.
Authorities have advised everyone to take necessary precautions and stay warm during this chilly weather. Meanwhile, people are complaining that the cold has made it difficult to leave their homes early in the morning. They are lighting small fires to protect themselves from the intense cold.
