Odisha to get relief from intense heatwave conditions

Bhubaneswar: Odisha which is currently reeling under intense heatwave conditions is all set to get some relief as the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain in the State from today.

As predicted by the weather department, thunderstorm with lightning to occur in several districts of the State for the next three days from today. For this, the IMD has issued yellow warnings.

The IMD also predicted hot and humid conditions at one or two places over certain districts of State.

Day 1 (Valid 8.30 AM of May 14):

  • YELLOW WARNING: Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Gajapati and Ganjam.
  • Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangapur, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi.
  • Hot and Humid Conditions very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati.
  • Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
  • Hot and Humid Conditions very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati.

Day 2 (Valid from 8.30 AM of May 14 to 8.30 AM of May 15):

  • YELLOW WARNING: Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam.
  • Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Nabarangapur, Kandhamal, Bhadrak, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balangir, Kalahandi and Cuttack.
  • Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangapur, Kandhamal, Bhadrak, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balangir, Kalahandi and Cuttack and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
  • Hot and Humid Conditions very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati.

  • YELLOW WARNING: Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Gajapati.
  • Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
  • Hot and Humid Conditions very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati.
