Odisha Un-banked Villages to come up with 100 Mobile Banking Vans

Bhubaneswar: June 21: The Odisha Government has aimed to introduce in all 100 mobile vans accessed with banking facilities during the current 2016-17 financial year especially in village areas having no banking facilities. At present, there are 24 mobile vans functioning with banking operations out of which 20 are by the Odisha State Co-operative Bank, two each provided by the public sector UCO Bank and private ICICI Bank. These two banks are offering services on wheels having their own coffers.

According to Government’s estimated budget and plan the capital cost per van will be incurred as Rs.30 lakh p.a. and the operation expenditure cost per van will be Rs.12 lakh p.a. Alongside, these vans will function in six gram panchayats in a week and the ones having ATM service will only be operating in the market area.

Recently, the State government has introduced the scheme of extending financial support for three phase power supply to urge the commercial banks for opening new branches in the un-banked gram panchayats and for this a total of Rs. 2.5crore has been provided in the state budget 216-17.
