Malkangiri, Nov 7: Residents of Kamnaguda village in Odisha’s Malkangiri district on Friday sought protection from the State government saying they felt harassed by left-wing ultras and police questioning.

Members of about 40 tribal families, including women and infants, met district police chief Mitrabhanu Mohapatra and narrated their woes.

They said they were helpless as the red rebels come during the night time and demand food from villagers. On the other hand, the security people come during the day time and ask us about maoists, village head Laka Padiami said.

“I have assured the villagers of ensuring their security,” the SP told reporters.
