Bhubaneswar, Sept 13: The Global Agriculture Leadership Award 2016 was dedicated to the Agriculture department and farmers of the State by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday.
While dedicating the award, Patnaik appreciated the hard work of famers and their commitment which brought them national level reorganization. For the prestigious Global Agricultural Leadership award 2016, Patnaik also congratulated the Agriculture and Farmer’s Empowerment Department.
Pradip Majhi, the State Agriculture Minister handed over the trophy to Chief Minister on Monday at the State Secretariat.
It may be noted that, under the best agriculture state category, Odisha has won the 9th Global Agricultural Leadership Award 2016.
The Indian council of Food and Agriculture through a letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also appreciated his role in the major policy intervention in farm sectors in better management of farms resources which relatively provides a platform for agriculture and allied sectors development, diversification and marketing linkage.
The National Awards Committee recognized that due to the agricultural development in the state, in 2013-14 the state had recorded food grains production of 96.36 lakh MTs while in 2014-15, the production rate increased by 22.7 percent with 118.24 MTs. Along with this, the productivity of food grains has also increased.
