Odisha’s five light houses to be developed as Tourist Destination

New Delhi, Dec 02: Odisha‘s five light houses namely Puri, Paradip, Chandrabhaga, False Point and Gopalpur are identified to be developed as tourist attraction.

The ministry of shipping has drawn up an ambitious programme to develop lighthouses in the country as tourist centres under public-private-partnership mode.

Among Other  lighthouses are in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh,  West Bengal and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

The land adjacent to these lighthouses may have hotels, resorts, viewing galleries, maritime museums and heritage museums, adventure sports facilities, thematic restaurants, souvenir shops, laser shows, spa & rejuvenation centers, amphitheaters and allied tourism facilities to attract the tourists, subject to viability and necessary clearances, said a release issued by the ministry.
