New Delhi, Sept 6: Opposing the barrages construction work by Chhattisgarh on the upper catchment areas of the Mahanadi River, Odisha’s Samaj Andolan activists staged a demonstration in New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Monday.
They also urged intervention of Central government in this matter to stop the construction work on the river.
As per sources, though Uma Bharati, Water resources Minister informed in a discussion held with the activists that Odisha will not be affected by the barrage construction on Mahanadi, the activists still staged dharna at Jantar Mantar and also stated that if such problems arises in future, agitation will be intensified.
