Bhubaneswar, Nov 9: With a view of providing developmental steps towards air connectivity, Odisha’s second airport at Jharsuguda is likely to be functional by April 2018. This was informed by the Chairman of Airport Authority of India (AAI), Guru Prasad Mohapatra on Tuesday.
The total budget for the project has been assigned as Rs 2800 crore, Mohapatra informed to media persons.
With arrangements for 300 passengers, the airport will have taxi way, technical block, staff quarters and fire tender, he further added.
Meanwhile, informing about the developmental progress of Biju Patnaik International Airport, Mohapatra stated that expansion and extension work of the runway and setting up of Air Traffic Control Room at the Airport in three years will be done for which Rs 250 crore will be invested.
In future, AAI has plans for air connectivity to other cities of Odisha, he said.
