Bhubaneswar, Jan 5:  The Utkal University of Culture will shift to Madanpur, Jatni as the inauguration of the new campus has been completed in May 2016. The existing campus will be shifted to its new campus by January end. While attending the 18th Foundation Day of the University on Wednesday, Kamal Kanta Mishra, Vice-Chancellor informed this. University’s city research centre will be opened at the existing campus located in Unit-II, Bhubaneswar, informed VC. The new campus of the Utkal University of Culture is facilitated with Wi-Fi and hostels with 100 seats for both boys and girls each, he added.

For running the campus in a full-fledged manner, health Centre, post office and police outpost will come up eventually and the VC has asked the Culture Department Secretary, Manoranjan Panigrahi to take these into serious consideration. For the new campus, 33 new posts are approved by the State Government and within two months these new posts would fill up.

It may be noted that, due to lack of teachers and a permanent campus, the university is yet to meet the criteria of University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 12 B of the UGC act in order to get financial assistant under it.

During the occasion, ‘Sanskruti’ an annual newsletter of the university and a magazine ‘Rupayana’ were released by Chief Guest R Balakrishnan, Development Commissioner. Students of the university also organized an Art exhibition and drama on Fakir Mohan Senapati’s story.
