Bhubaneswar, Feb 19: Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) will announce the revised tariff for the year 2016-17 by March 20.
A senior official of OERC said on Thursday that the Commission will decide (about tariff hike) after taking a balanced view from both consumers and the power generating and distributing companies. The decision has not yet been taken and many factors will be taken into consideration before any changes in the tariff chart.
“Tentatively, the order will be released by March 20 which will be implemented effective April 1,” he told reporters.
“In previous years, there were instances of power tariff hikes which were necessitated due to some unavoidable circumstances. We will be able to know about this year’s tariff only after the order is issued,” stated Priyabrata Pattnaik, Director (Regulatory Affairs), OERC.
