BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Legislative Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy on Wednesday convened an all-party meeting ahead of the Odisha Assembly budget session scheduled to begin on Thursday.
The session aims to set the tone for smooth deliberations between the ruling and opposition parties.
The meeting was convened to ensure a peaceful atmosphere in the House during the session.
The meeting sought to address key issues and facilitate a constructive debate during the legislative proceedings.
The budget session will be held in two phases– the first from February 13 to 21 and the second from March 7 to April 5. A key highlight of the session will be the presentation of the budget for the financial year 2025-26, scheduled for February 17.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who also holds the finance portfolio, will present the full budget to the assembly.
The session will begin with the Governor’s address on Thursday, followed by discussions on the motion of thanks to the Governor’s address on February 14 and 15.
Speaker Padhy emphasized that while the Assembly welcomes constructive suggestions from opposition parties, any disruptions or obstructions to the proceedings will not be tolerated. This call for cooperation comes at a time when the government is keen on ensuring a productive session that prioritizes the interests of the people of Odisha.
