New Delhi: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Monday asked the central government to fulfil its promise of restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, saying dial powers were “not beneficial” to the state.

Omar told reporters after attending a function here that there has been a promise with the people of Jammu and Kashmir, made publicly, inside Parliament and the Supreme Court, not only once, but more than once.

“It has been repeatedly assured that full statehood will be restored to J&K,” he said, adding that “dual power centres are not beneficial for any government and that is the reason there has not been such an arrangement in any state”.
