Malkangiri, Oct 29: With the death of two more children in Malkangiri district today, identified as Bhima Madhi (5) of Gouriguda village who died while undergoing treatment at the Kalimela Community Health Centre (CHC) and Mamata Madhi of Buduriguda village under Korukonda block who succumbed to the disease at the district headquarter hospital, the death toll due to Japanese Encephalitis has mounted to 74 in the last 51 days.
It may be noted that Bhima Madhi was undergoing treatment at the CHC since the last three days, and his death marks the first death due to the vector-borne disease in the Gouriguda village.
