Bhubaneswar, Aug 19: On Friday, to highlight their grievances, the Odisha Private Engineering School Association (OPESA), the body of 88 private diploma schools in Odisha, staged a demonstration near Raj Bhavan and protested the State Government’s neglected attitude in complying with the Orissa High Court order in giving an opportunity to the students for lateral entry admission in diploma engineering and also demanded adequate financial help to the private diploma engineering schools and an opportunity to students to take admission in 4,000 vacant seats in the State.
They alleged that the State Government is challenging the High Court order in the Supreme Court instead of compiling with the HC order in giving an opportunity to the students for lateral entry admission in diploma engineering.
Different private engineering college students and OPESA office bearers participated in the protest. They will submit a memorandum to Governor SC Jamir seeking his immediate intervention in the matter.
Notably, the OPESA members recently had staged a demonstration in this regard at Berhampur and submitted a memorandum to the Berhampur RDC.
