Bhubaneswar, Nov 30: Opposition Congress and BJP is all set to grill Naveen Patnaik led BJD government in the forthcoming winter session of Odisha Assembly beginning December 1 making the farmer suicide and irregularities in ration card distribution as main subject of discussion.
The saffron party has decided to make peasants’ issues main weapon while Congress too will follow similar path to put the government in soup.
BJP legislature party meeting held here on Sunday decided that the party will aggressively raise the drought and farmer suicide issues during the House proceeding and seek White Paper from the government on the two contentious issues.
“Our party will give emphasis mostly to drought and farmers suicide cases in the upcoming winter session. Besides, teachers and bus operators’ call for strike will also be raised in the House during the session”, party MLA Pradeep Purohit said.
This apart, the saffron party is all set to grill the government over diminishing law and order situation and gross irregularities in distribution of ration cards in the State. Mineral smuggling will also be made an issue, he added.
Farmer suicide cases are increasing by the day. Neither the government has admitted it nor taken any measures to curb it”, Leader of Opposition Narasingh Mishra said adding there are other subjects including teacher and doctors’ issues to be raised during the session.
Irregularities in distribution of ration cards under National Food Security Act would also be another subject of discussion.
Apart from peasants’ issue, the Congress will also raise teacher and doctors’ issue.
On the other hand, the government may make central negligence over drought assistance a sealed to counter the opposition bench. Besides, leading magazine India Today’s survey report over State progress might be used by the treasury bench in the House.
