Opposition urges Odisha CM to sack minister from cabinet following allegations

Bhubaneswar, April 10: The woes of Food Supply and Consumer Supply Minister Sanjay Dasburma, embroiled in controversy over his alleged links with tainted chit fund company ArthaTatwa, continued to mount today with Opposition Congress and BJP baying for his scalp by urging Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to sack him from his council of Ministers.

BJP leader Prithiviraj Harichandan said it was appropriate that the Chief Minister dropped Dasburma from the State Cabinet while Pradesh Congress Committee President Prasad Harichandan said  in Bolangir that the Minister should be sacked and interrogated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for his alleged involvement in the chit fund scam.

The Congress Youth wing also intensified its agitation demanding the arrest of Biju Chhatra Janata Dal president Byomkesh Roy for his alleged links with notorious gangsters Dhalsamant brothers.

On   Friday State BJP spokesperson Samir Mohanty had alleged that five companies registered in the names of Dasburma father and wife had chit fund money invested in them.

The Youth Congress organised a motorcycle rally in Pur itown demanding the resignation of the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister after the notice of CBI to him in the ‘green Pajero’ case and later burnt the effigy of the Minister.

In the State capital, the youth and students’ wing of the Congress held a rally demanding the arrest of Biju Chatra Janata Dal (BCJD) State president and MLA Byomkesh Ray for his alleged links with arrested criminal siblings Sushil and Sushant Dhalasamant.The activists attempted to gherao the Commissionerate Police office here but Police foiled it.

They submitted a memorandum to the Additional Police Commissioner demanding the arrest of the BJD legislator.
