OSRTC staff warn of stir on Dec 22

Bhubaneswar, Dec 09:  The Odisha State Road Transport Corporation Contract Employees’ Association has threatened to resort to agitation from December 22 demanding fulfillment of their longstanding demands.

The drivers and conductors, appointed on contractual basis have been demanding strike demanding better wages and amenities. They alleged that the transport corporation was exploiting them by paying low wages for the same work done by the permanent staff. They also demanded the temporary drivers and conductors be made permanent.

Association general secretary Prasanta Kumar Rout said that though one third of the employees have been deprived facilities despite serving 20 years. He said though 2220 employees are needed to manage 342 buses but only 1531 employees are managing the show. He further alleged that staffs are not being promoted intentionally.
