Kabul Airport Stampede, Shooting & Falling From Sky Kills 40: Many Still Missing
Bhubaneswar: The Taliban takeover of Kabul tension, that lead to the airport shootings, falling from aircraft, and stampede at the International Airport at Afghanistan’s Kabul has killed or wounded at least 40 people by now. Since Monday, many of them who went to the airport in an attempt to leave the country are still missing, and their families have no idea about their whereabouts.
Many families in Kabul have reported to the authorities about missing or death of their near and dear ones at the Kabul airport since Monday. Visual shared on social media shows at least 6 people hanging to the body of the aircraft have fallen to the ground and died.
Earlier, on 15th of August, the Taliban took over Kabul and surrounded the presidential palace in Kabul. In an attempt to evacuate the country thousands of panicked Afghans gathered at the International Airport at Afghanistan’s Kabul. However, the situation became out of control and Taliban & other Security official started shooting, that killed many. In an attempt to runaway, many were seriously wounded and many died, as of result of the stampede. Few of them who took the chance to hang on the body of the C-17 Globemaster died moments later after the takeoff, falling off to the ground.
In the attempt to evacuate, the then president of Afghanistan, Ashraf Ghani along with 50 others took a chance and fled the country, who have now said to have been taken refugee in UAE.
