Bhubaneswar: August 28: Political parties started rushing to Melhghar village, the village of Dana Majhi, who carried his wife’s body on shoulders for 10 kms from the district head quarter hospital of Kalahandi district’. State Congress party organised a padayatra at Dana Majhi’s village today in Kalahandi district of Odisha to protest against the sad incident. Party raised voice against ‘injustices’ done to the tribal of the region. Attending the padayatra, former union minister and senior congress leader Bhakta Charan Das warned the centre and state government that, no such incident should recur in future. Also, he addressed the people of the region to raise voice against injustice. Dana Majhi also attended the rally.
Fact finding team of BJP also met Majhi at his village to get first-hand information on the incident. BJP’s Rabi Nayak satires the state government for this sad incident and said, ‘If this sort of situation can happen in a district level hospital, then just think about the other hospitals in remote areas of this district.’
BJD Spokes Person Dibya Shankar Mishra also met Dana Majhi and admitting lapses in execution of welfare schemes at some places said, ‘State Government has been putting its all efforts for the welfare of the people, executed many welfare schemes. This incident took place in the night. When he reached at the forest check gate people saw him and came forward to help the man. We are trying to improve the situation in the region”.
