Padma Awardees to Get of Rs 30,000

Bhubaneswar: The Padma Awardees in Odisha will now get an honourary assistance of Rs 30,000 per month. The Odia Language Literature & Culture Department of the state government has issued an official notification in this regard.

In the notification, the department said that the Padma Award, which was introduced in 1954, is the second highest civilian award in the country after Bharat Ratna and is given for special contribution in the fields of art, education, science, sports, social work, public service, medicine, literature, etc.

Considering the outstanding contribution to the society in various fields of the state, the Odisha government has decided to provide each living Padma Awardee with an honourary assistance of Rs 30,000 per month, the notification said adding that they will get the assistance through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) from January 2025.

All the District Collectors and District Cultural Officers have been directed to send the details of the living Padma awardees (District Collector’s certificate, bank account details, IFSC Code) in the respective districts to the Directorate of the Odia, Language, Literature and Culture Department as soon as possible, so that all the living Padma awardees can get the assistance amount through the Direct Benefit Transfer.
