Bhubaneswar: May 12 “Development without security is vulnerable and security, without development is meaningless”, said by Padma Vibhushan Dr. Rajgopal Chidambaram, Principal Scientific Advisor to Govt of India and Chairman, Scientific Advisory Committee to the Union Cabinet in his inaugural address at NALCO’s Corporate Office in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday. In his address, he emphasized on a knowledge-driven economy for the development of the country. To attain overall development, knowledge has become a key factor today. “The path to a knowledge-driven economy is paved by new advanced technology,” he added. For this, he stressed that there should be a thermodynamic equilibrium between the industry system and academic system.
Dr. Rajgopal Chidambaram addressed the gathering on the occasion of celebration of 18th National Technology Day organized by NALCO and topic of discussion was “The Role of Industry in a Knowledge Economy”.
Presiding on the event, Dr. Tapan Kumar Chand, CMD, NALCO said, focused on knowledge and technology as cutting edge of a business organization in contemporary competitive climate. He emphasized NALCO’s business plan is in synergy with development.
Shri N.R. Mohanty, Director (Project & Technical) emphasized on the need of the hour to make the right technology choices, ensure synergy between research & product development and need for augmenting R&D. He highlighted some of the historical MoUs signed by NALCO for R&D cooperation. At the outset, Dr. B.K. Satpathy, ED (BD, R&D) of the company introduced the Chief Speaker and Shri Subrat Kar, GM (R&D) proposed a vote of thanks. The programme was attended by eminent Scientists, Technologists, Engineers, drawn from various organizations apart from NALCO employees.
