New Delhi: May 06: As part of the National Perspective Plan (NPP), April 2016, prepared for the Sagarmala Programme, 29 port-based coastal industrial clusters have been proposed across 14 Coastal Economic Zones. Probable Ports covered under the Coastal Economic Zones are Kandla, Mundra, Pipavav, Sikka, Dahej, Hazira, JNPT, Mumbai, Dighi, Jaigarh, Mormugao, Mangalore, Kochi, Tuticorin, Cuddalore, Chennai, Ennore and Katupalli, Krishnapatnam, Vizag, Kakinada, Paradip, Dhamra, Kolkata, Haldia.
Smart Port Industrial Cities are proposed to be developed at Kandla and Paradip and their feasibility reports are currently under preparation. The industrial cluster projects have an implementation time schedule of upto 10 years, with an estimated infrastructure investment of Rs. 1 Lakh Crore and are projected to attract additional industrial investment of Rs. 7 Lakh Crore. The consultants have projected that these industrial cluster projects will enable creation of approximately 1 Crore new jobs, including 40 Lakh direct jobs and boost exports by USD 110 Billion in the next 10 years.
