Paradip to undergo an international makeover

Paradip, Apr 3:  For an innovative makeover of the Paradip port, to make it an International level port, an investment of Rs 15,000 crore is to be done. Considered as the Sea face of Odisha, the port is lining up with number of investments after getting clearance from the Union Minister of shipping. Already steps are being taken and more to go, to make it the no.1 port PanIndia.

To increase the port capacity and to make it able to handle huge container cargos, the project is initiated and is on a full force to get operational by a December 2018, said source. To triple the capacity of the port in the coming years, the port has taken a number of projects, which would increase it capacity from 126.94 Million Metric Tonnes per annum (MMTPA) to 325 MMTPA by 2025.

Other projects, like for enhancing infrastructure, which is worth about Rs.655 crore, is the 10MMPTA capacity deep draught coal berth on BOT basis. Another proposed project, to handle large cape-size vessels up to 2 lakh Deadweight tonnage, the outer harbour of the port is to be developed at an estimated worth of Rs 8767 crore. This was planned according under the Sagarmala Programme of the government of Odisha, which is said to be operational by 2021.
