Paralekhmundi, Aug 22: The dead bodies of Parala Maharaja, Gopinath Gajapati Narayan’s Manager, Ananga Manjari Patra, her elder sister Bijayalalxmi and her brother Sanjay Patra were recovered from Ananga’s house at Janga Sahi in Paralakhemundi on Sunday, while another sibling Tulu Patra was found in a critical condition.
While Ananga and her elder sister Bijaylaxmi had apparently consumed poison, the body of Sanjay, who had resigned as the Maharaja’s PA just days ago, was found hanging. The situation raised the suspicion that the three had committed suicide.
However, today the Director General of Police (DGP) KB Singh revealed that three suicide notes and a dairy have been recovered from the Manger’s house even as Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik ordered a Crime Branch probe into the mysterious deaths.
Notably, some locals had detected foul odour coming from Patra’s house which was locked for last three days while the daily newspapers were lying scattered before their house. Sensing trouble, the locals reported the matter to the police.
Tulu patra was recovered with minimal senses when the police broke into the house, in the presence of a Magistrate and was shifted to MKCG Hospital at Berhampur from Paralakhemundi Hospital after his health condition started to deteriorate.
The Manager and her brothers were under tremendous mental pressure after the King’s daughter had filed an FIR against them, alleging for trying to corner the King’s over Rs. 500 crore property and neglecting the Maharaja’s health by keeping him under house arrest for over a year.
Meanwhile, two platoons of police force have been deployed at the spot yesterday and Gajapati SP Sushil Panigrahi is personally taking stock of the incident. The police are investigating into the matter and have registered an Unnatural Death case, though the post-mortem report to ascertain the cause of death of the victims is being awaited.
After the post-mortem, a forensic team would conduct a viscera test on the bodies of the manager and the two siblings to know the exact reason of their death.
