Paralakhemundi, Aug 30: With the mystery over the deaths of Ananga Manjari Patra, the palace manager of Parala royal Gopinath Gajapati Narayan Deb, and three of her siblings still to be solved, local MLA K Suriya Rao moved to the Orissa High Court seeking anticipatory bail yesterday. The matter is expected to be taken up by the High Court.
While the police are still probing into the matter, the MLA filed an anticipatory bail plea at the court as the police had booked MLA Rao, based on the complaint filed by Amulya Patra, the elder brother of the deceased Ananga Manjari, on charges of abetment to suicide of the Parala Palace staffers and their siblings.
Notably, on August 22, Amulya Patra and his sister had filed a complaint against many accused persons including MLA Rao, former Gajapati district chief Basant Das, former Congress Town president Basant Panda, BJP district president G Ravana, Congress leader Smruti Ranjan Mohapatra and youth leader Debi Prasad Das on charges of abetment to suicide of Ananga Manjari and three of her siblings.
The Police of Paralakhemundi police station had registered a case against the accused persons based on the FIR filed by Amulya.
Notably, a case under sections 306 (abetment to suicide) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) against the accused had been registered.
