Bhubaneswar, April 7: Even as evaluation of Pus-II test papers remains affected due to the ongoing strike by teachers of non-government colleges demanding abolition of Block Grant system, a key meeting convened by the authorities to break the deadlock on Thursday remained ‘inconclusive’.

Though the meeting chaired by Director of Higher Education department, deliberated on various alternatives before the State government to smoothly conduct the evaluation, it failed to reach a consensus on the ‘Block Grant’ system, highly placed sources said.

Higher Education minister Pradeep Panigrahi, secretary of the department and Chairman, Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) attended the meeting at the secretariat.

Panigrahi said, “State government is aware of the Block Grant system and the Finance department is considering a hike in grade pay of Group-D employees.”

Asked about the progress of the analysis of the ministerial committee looking into the issue of abolition of Block Grant system, he said it would take some time.

On paper evaluation, which has been affected for the last four days due to the agitation, the minister said, “Evaluation is going on smoothly and the result will be declared in time.”
