SAMBALPUR, FEB 20: Pertinent issues faced by farmers in Odisha prompted Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address distressed agriculturists at Bargarh on February 21, said senior leader of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and former minister Manmohan Samal here.
Samal, speaking to newsmen, blamed the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) alleging that the party is the B team of Congress and termed it “the most corrupt government of the country.”
“The State government is anti-farmer”, Samal said, adding when BJP was in power in Odisha, its agricultural production was on par with Punjab. “BJD’s leaders do not have the will to solve farmers’ issues”, said the senior leader of the saffron party.
Meanwhile, party spokesperson Sajjan Sharma, taking a swipe at Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik over his remark against NDA at a farmers’ rally in Jungarh, alleged that Patnaik was “misleading the state.”
Patnaik’s remark at the rally is ‘unfortunate’ and ‘distortion of truth’, alleged BJP spokesperson Sajjan Sharma in a release here today.
He said that the Centre was concerned about drought incurred due to scanty rainfall in Odisha and has been extending a helping hand to state.
“It is government’s inefficiency that it fails to submit the accurate report about expenditure from central assistance. As the NDA led by Narendra Modi is asking for the detailed report about central aids’ expenditure, Naveen government has been disturbed,” Sharma alleged.
