Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially inaugurated the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Conference on Thursday.
As per reports, a little ago PM Modi’s carcade set out from the Governor’s house for Janata Maidan amid top security arrangement and reached Janata Maidan. Then, while the guests including PM Modi were on the dais, first the welcome song ‘Basudhaiva Kutumbakam’ was presented. It was followed by welcome address by the External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar. He addressed the gathering of the Pravasi Bharatiyas, the NRIs present on this occasion.
The speech by the EAM was followed by the address by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. He expressed his happiness over presence of Prime Minister Modi on this occasion.
Later, Chief Guest Christine Carla Kangaloo, the president of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago then addressed the diaspora at the conference. PM Modi inaugurated the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Conference at about 10.45 am today. He waived the green flag and inaugurated the Pravasi Bharatiya Express. It is to be noted that PM Modi arrived in Bhubaneswar yesterday.
