Bhubaneswar, Dec 10: The government railway police(GRP) on Friday arrested a conman for allegedly impersonating a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officer and duping a passenger with the promise of giving him a confirmed ticket.

The accused was identified as Ratikant Dixit. The police seized the fake CISF identity card of the 45-year-old. The GRP said Dixit approached victim Kalandi Pradhan, who was standing in a queue here. After introducing himself as a CISF officer, he asked the passenger whether he need a confirmed ticket. He showed him his identity card. Pradhan gave him Rs 2850 for a confirmed ticket in second AC in Konark express. An unsuspecting Pradhan then left. Upon his return, he found Dixit missing following which he lodged a complaint with the GRP. The cops then deployed their personnel in plain clothes.

After two hours, the conman resurfaced and tried to use the same modus operandi, as informed GRP inspector Saubhagya Kumar Swain. Dixit, from Bhadrak, had taken several other passengers for a ride at different railway stations earlier.
