Bhubaneswar, March 30: The Jail Bharo Andolan of the Navanirman Krushak Sangathan (NKS) started at the Lower PMG on Tuesday even as the farmers blocked the road in front of the State Assembly and attempted to force entry into the complex.
One person was injured in the clash with police which tried to foil the attempt of the farmers.
The injured has been admitted to the Capital Hospital here.
The State convenor of NKS, Akshay Kumar and some of the farmers has been detained by the police.
The NKS has been staging demonstration at the Lower PMG since March 18 demanding due respect and pension to farmers.
Notably, seven BJD MLAs, including Amar Satpathy and Sashi Bhusan Behera, Dibyasankar Mishra had met the farmers’ body members at the dharna site appealing to them to withdraw their agitation.
The farmers’ body had demanded a written assurance of the acceptance its demands from the Government.
