Police issued look out circular against BJP candidate for Satyabadi Assembly Constituency

Bhubaneswar: April 25: Police has issued a look out circular against BJP candidate for Satyabadi Assembly Constituency Om Prakash Mishra and arrested two persons from the spot for attacking the Presiding Officer and damaging EVM machines at booth 78 of Birakesarpur. The arrested persons have been identified as Manas Samantaray (32) of Khordha and Akshaya Kumar Biswal (34) of Kanas. Both are the supporters of BJP’s Satyabadi MLA candidate Om Prakash Mishra.

Presiding Officer Shibram Mohapatra of booth 78 at Birakesarpur alleged that at around 5.30 PM, Mishra along with 200 bike-borne supporters gathered near the booth and out of them 15 persons entered into the booth and attacked him besides destroying the EVM Machines and some important poll documents. One of them also brandished a gun but villagers came to the rescue of Mohapatra.

Shivaram Mohapatra had lodged a police complaint against Mishra and his supporters, following which a case was registered against them under sections 187, 186 of Representation of the People Act, sections 25 and 27 of Arms Act and sections 147, 148, 506 of IPC.

Police seized the gun and arrested two persons in connection with the incident, but Mishra is still absconding.

Three special squads have been formed and they had raided his residence at Hansapal in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday, but returned empty-handed. All efforts to arrest him is on and lookout circular have been issued, Police sources said.
