Angul, Sept 12: Shobagini Behera, who had attempted to commit suicide by killing her three minor sons after jumping into a well along with them on Saturday, was nabbed by the police from a temple at Gurujanga under Kishore Nagar police limits in the district.
As per the information, a neighbor had seen her jumping into the well along with her three sons, who later informed the villagers following which, the fire brigade team reached the spot and began the rescue operation. However, they could only save the mother while the three kids died in the well.
Shortly after being rescued, Behera had managed to escape from the spot soon after regaining consciousness. The Police were on a search operation to arrest her.
According to the villagers, Shobagini’s husband was the sole wage earner of the family. He is presently lodged in jail after being arrested on charges of selling narcotic items which forced Shobagini to take the extreme step as she was finding it difficult to feed her children with no source of income.
