Puri, July 23: Today the Puri police will move to court in order to urge for search warrants against the erring servitors who indulged in unruly behavior during Niladri Bije on Sunday night, as per the video footage, Puri SP Sarthak Sarangi informed.

Notably, two servitors, Surya Narayan Pratihari and Raghunath Khuntia, have already been arrested for misbehaving with Puri Collector Arvind Agarwal. The others have been identified by the police. The police wanted to take stern action against them and it did so after Agarwal filed an FIR against the culprits. The servitors, Damodar Mahasuara, Jayakrushna Mahasuara and Harinarayan Khuntia on Friday, begged for anticipatory bail at the Orissa High Court just after police began a hunt to catch them.

On July 18 at the Singhadwar police criminal cases were filed against six servitors, Damodar Mahasuar, Jaykrushna Mahasura, Saina Khuntia, Ipsit Pratihari, Bhimsen Palankadhari and Rabi Das, based on two complaints filed by Agarwal. The collector invited the wrath of the accused and their ilk when he stopped Damodar from taking his daughter onto the chariots during the final ritual of Rath Yatra.

Apart from those framed in Agarwal’s complaints, police have also identified nearly 50 other servitors, who had created fracas during Niladri Bije, harassed the collector and also manhandled the media persons.
