Post few hours of strike, nurses rolled back on getting assurance by MLAs

Cuttack, Oct 3: After the MLAs agreed on the demands put forth by the nurses of the Odisha Nursing Employee Association, they backed out from conducting the strike on Monday.

This was informed by Prabhati Mohanty, the Secretary of the Association. The decision regarding this took place in the meeting where the Association met with Debashis Samantray, MLA of Barabati, Cuttack and Prabhat Biswal, MLA of Chaudwar Cuttack, Superintendent of SCB medical college and Hospital. Due to this strike even held for a short period of time, health services at districts headquarters hospital and the state run media colleges in the state had been affected.

In their three-point charter of demands they demanded that under the National Health Mission all staff nurses post should be regularized with increment of their basic salary to Rs 9300 from Rs 5200  along with Rs 4200 as grade pay.
