New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has written to the Union Minister for Health, Family Welfare, Chemicals and Fertilizers Jagat Prakash Nadda to establish a National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) in Odisha.
Pradhan mentioned in the letter that there is a need to establish Nipper in Odisha. This initiative will significantly contribute to the growth of the pharmaceutical and biotech sector in Eastern India.
He further said that the Odisha Biotech Park in Bhubaneswar is the first park in Eastern India where all the necessary facilities of water, electricity, effluent treatment and other facilities are available for the establishment of biotechnology industries and related service sectors.
“This biotech park provides a favorable environment for the establishment of nippers. This will not only bridge educational and research gaps in medicine but also promote innovation and development of skilled manpower. As a result, India’s global competitiveness in the pharmaceutical sector will increase,” he wrote.
The establishment of Nipper in Odisha will help achieve the goals of PLI scheme in the pharmaceutical sector by realizing the goal of self-reliant India.
Pradhan requested Nadda to consider at personal level to set up Nipper in Odisha.
