Bhubaneswar, July 1 : Session Court,Umerkote on Friday granted bail to Former Nabarangpur Congress MP, Pradip Majhi and his 18 party supporters.
The bail has been granted on the basis of a condition, i.e., 20,000 bail bond with a guarantor, and they would co-operate with police during the investigation.
Pradip Majhi was arrested with 18 supporters on June 26 while they were staging demonstrations in front of the Forest Office demanding immediate allotment of forest land Patta under Forest Rights Act (FRA) to tribal and conduct a fresh survey to identify the eligible BPL beneficiaries of the ration cards under National Food Security Act (NFSA). Unfortunately, demonstrations turned into violence and was alleged that Majhi and his supporters had beaten the Forest Ranger and ransacked the Forest Range office thereafter. After that they were on hunger strike in Umerkote sub jail. On Thursday they have withdrawn the hunger strike.
