Bhubaneswar, Apr 10: Today a preparatory meeting was held in the presence of Odisha CS Aditya Prasad Padhi, Sports Secretary, Vishal Kumar Dev and Secretary of Athletics Federation of India (AFI) to chalk out strategies for the smooth conduct of the upcoming Asian Athletics Championships that is scheduled to be held from July 6 to 9 here. Padhi stated to media that the championship will have 42 events and 650 athletes and 1100 officials from 45 countries are participating in it. Also, a management committee having 13 sub-committees have been constituted to take care of all arrangements. The capital city will be for the first time hosting the mega sports event in Kalinga Stadium here. The AFI President Adille J Sumariwalla had personally scrutinized all the facilities and infrastructure at the stadium last month before giving a green signal to conduct the event here.
