New Delhi, Nov 14: President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday condemned the deadly terrorist attacks in the French capital Paris in which at least 120 people were killed.
“Strongly condemn terrorist attacks in Paris, India stands firmly by France, my heart goes out its people,” the President tweeted.
As many as 120 people have died in a popular Paris concert hall where attackers seized hostages yesterday in one of at least six terror attacks that unfolded across the city.
At least two explosions were heard near the Stade de France national stadium where a France-Germany friendly soccer match was being played, attended by President Francois Hollande.
After the attacks, Hollande declared a state of emergency and announced that he was closing the country’s borders.
Hollande, who had to be evacuated from the stadium when the bombs went off outside, said in a televised address that the nation would stand firm and united.
Nobody has claimed responsibility for the attack.
India stands behind people of France: Rajnath
Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh said India stands firmly behind the people of France in this difficult hour.
Singh said he was deeply pained to hear the news of the Paris terror attack.
In this difficult hour, the people of India firmly stand with the people of France. Words can’t adequately condemn such attacks where innocent people have been killed, he said.
Singh also expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased.
