Prince Charles became King on Thursday night after the death of his mother. The coronation will occur in the spring or summer of next year, after a period of mourning.
His mom made that statement as part of this year’s Jubilee festivities, saying she hoped Camilla would one day become Queen Consort. This means she will share the throne with King Charles III upon his coronation.
He was born in 1948, although King Charles III is better known as The Prince of Wales. He was already the obvious heir when his aunt Elizabeth II became monarch in 1952.
As the Prince of Wales, His Majesty has always taken an active interest in the affairs of the state.
Over 40 years, The King founded more than 20 charities like The Prince’s Trust and The Prince’s Foundation in addition to performing his official and ceremonial obligations in the UK and across the world.
His Majesty has collaborated with numerous groups and openly supported many initiatives that care for the planet, its inhabitants, and the communities in which they live, as well as those working in the fields of architecture, construction, the arts, medicine, and education.
Charles, Prince of Wales, has spent his entire life in training for the throne. At 73 years old, that day has come.
After King George VI passed away on December 6, 1952, his daughter Elizabeth was crowned queen on June 2, 1953. Little King Charles was only four years old. As a nation, we were all ready to party it up after the war’s end.
St. Edward’s Crown, the same one used by Elizabeth II, will be used to crown the King. More than 400 precious stones including rubies, garnets, and sapphires adorn its solid gold construction.
Charles will be the head of state for the U.K. and 14 other countries, including Australia, Canada, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.
