Punjab Goes For Polls Today; Also Polls For 59 Seats Of UP
Punjab people shall vote for its next government today. After intensive campaign, allegations & counter allegations, accusations against each other by Political parties and leaders, now it is time for the people to decide the future of state for next 5 years. All 117 Assembly seats of Punjab will go for polls today.
Uttar Pradesh shall witness its third phase of poll on Sunday. The fate of candidates of 59 seats will be sealed in the ballot box today.
Karhal in Mianpuri is going for poll in this phase. SP chief and former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav is contesting his maiden Assembly election from Karhal. Most of the seats in this phase are covering Yadav belt. As many as 627 candidates are in the fray, of which 97 are women.

Polling in Punjab will be held from 8am to 6 pm and over 2 crore voters shall exercise their franchise. In total 1304 candidates are contesting for 117 assembly seats.
The Congress had won the 2017 Assembly polls with 77 seats. The AAP emerged the principle opposition with 20 seats.
AAP’s CM face Bhagwant Mann is contesting from Dhuri. Punjab Lok Congress chief Captain Amarinder Singh is seeking re-election from the Patiala constituency.
Five-time chief minister and senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Parkash Singh Badal is in the fray from the Lambi seat and SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal is in the electoral contest from Jalalabad. The BJP has pitted its Punjab unit chief Ashwani Kumar Sharma from the Pathankot constituency.
This time Punjab shall witness a different election altogether. Major Political Parties are going alone. But, as said, the fight will be among the ruling Congress Party, the Aam Aadmi Party, the Shiromani Akali Dal-Bahujan Samajwadi Party alliance, the BJP-PLC-SAD(Sanyukt) and the Sanyukt Samaj Morcha, a political front of various famers’ bodies.
Ruling Congress is fighting hard to regain power in Punjab. But, the infighting between Chief of Punjab Congress Unit Navjot Singh Sidhu and Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, will be a major issue before the party. As per few political analysts, AAP may do better this time, but again it is yet to say anything. BJP and SAD are also trying hard to come to power in Punjab.
