Puri paintings to be displayed in Japan Olympics

Puri: The pilgrim city of Puri, known for its Jagannath Temple and Rath Yatra, is now set to leave its mark in the international sporting arena.

According to sources, as many as five first-rated paintings created by the protégés of Puri Chandrasekhar Academy are slated to displayed at Japan Olympics, scheduled in 2020.

Prominent among the five paintings are Mahatma Gandhi’s legendary and didactic ‘monkey troika’, Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra, Black Pagoda (Konark Temple), etc. The paintings will be displayed in Japan on October 2, said sources.

Landing at Japan, the special pieces of art will also be exhibited in several embassies there besides the Indian Embassy and will be preserved in the State museum till they get unveiled before the international aficionados during the Japan Olympic-2020.
