Bhubaneswar, Nov 23: A contest has been floated inviting citizens to suggest a new name for Raahgiri which is scheduled to begin from November 27. “Citizens can suggest new name for Raahgiri in the official Facebook page of ‘Bhubaneswar Smart City’ and stand a chance to win Rs 5, 000. However, the suggested name should reflect the essence of the event which not only promotes clean and green energy (non-motorised transport), but also encourages recreational, community, leisure activities and use of street by all denizens in a safe manner in the city,” a release said. To participate in the contest users just have to go the official page ‘Bhubaneswar Smart City’ (www.facebook.com/bhubaneswartowardssmartcity) and submit their suggestions in message box or in the comments or if someone wants to submit suggestions offline or though WhatsApp he/she can submit the same at BMC Communication Cell to Gopal Panigrahi @9937033393.The contest is live till Thursday midnight and the winner would be announced on the following day on the Facebook page itself. Additional Commissioner and Member Enforcement (BDA) Bhabani Chayani, who is also the nodal officer for the week-end event said that under a new name this weekly event in its second season will be more exciting from Nov 27. The organizers are planning to come up with a new avatar and with new ideas like a talent hunt and storey-telling sessions by well-known Ollywood personalities Akas Das Nayak and Anu Choudhury. City-based organisation Bakul Foundation, which has taken innovative steps to popularise library movement in and around Bhubaneswar and across the State, a regular participant at all the Raahgiris, will come up with story-telling sessions. However, last season the event was discontinued in view of the monsoon season.
