Bhubaneswar, Aug 29: A three-member team comprising officials of Khordha Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and Child Line began their investigation today in the case of alleged attempt of rape on a minor girl aged 4 years by a school van driver in the school premises. The team visited the educational institution to begin the probe, where they asked questions to some school staff members and held a discussion with the school authorities.
Notably, the victim of a private English medium school at Gangapada under Chandaka police limits was allegedly raped by Bijay Maharana, driver of the school bus on August 25. Commissionerate police had arrested Maharana and forwarded him to court. The accused was booked under Sections 376 (2) (1) of the IPC after the victim’s parents lodged a complaint with the Mahila police station.
