Puri: The wood for the making of the chariots for Rath Yatra will be worshipped today. This day marks the auspicious Vasant Panchami which falls on the Sukla pakshya panchami of Hindu month of Magha.
For the chariot making of the car festival or the world-famous Rath Yatra of Sri Jagannath and his siblings the woods will be worshipped today. Three Dhaura woods each one belonging to the chariots of Sri Jagannath, Devi Subhadra and Lord Balabhadra will be taken.
The Brahmin priest and Rajguru will do the traditional Banajag ritual along with the mantra chanting. On Ram Navami, it will sent to the sawmill for wood cutting and on the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya the chariot making will be started.
