Celebrations To Be Banned By Delhi Government
The Delhi government on Wednesday banned Christmas and New Year celebrations amid rising cases of the Omicron variant of Corona.
Bars and cinema halls will also open with 50% capacity. Apart from this, gathering of crowd and organizing cultural programs have also been banned.
Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has issued new orders. Delhi Police and administration have been instructed to strictly follow the orders.
“As per the DDMA order, all social, political, sports, entertainment, cultural, religious, and festival related gathering and congregations are completely prohibited in Delhi,” the DDMA order read.
Delhi reported 125 new cases came in 24 hours, which is highest in 6 months. At present there are 624 active cases of corona in Delhi. This is the highest in the last five months. The positivity rate in the capital is 0.2% and the recovery rate is 98.21%. Yesterday 58 corona patients have been cured. Since the beginning of Corona till now, 25,102 people have died in Delhi since 14,42,515 cases of Corona have been reported in Delhi.
As many as 213 cases of Omicron have been detected across India so far, with Delhi recording 57 cases, the highest among all states and UTs, followed by Maharashtra (54), Telangana (24), Karnataka (19), Rajasthan (18), Kerala (15) and Gujarat (14).
