Koraput, May 5: Late last night, protesting the road construction here, the Maoists torched vehicles in Majhigumandi and Uparagumandi villages under Narayanpatna block. Around four construction vehicles, two JCB machines and two tractors were torched. The vehicles are from SPR Construction Company that had received a tender for the road work here. Also, some posters were sighted at the site that stated that red rebels oppose the construction. Even the villagers have been warned not to render any sort of help to the contractor during the work. On being informed, the cops arrived at the spot and began investigation. Earlier in March, the Maoists had burnt a road construction machine and a two wheeler at Borapadar village under Bijepur police limits in Kalahandi.
