Dhenkanal: The Revenue Inspector of Gandanali Revenue Circle under Hindol Tahasil in Dhenkanal district and a private person were nabbed by Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday. They were nabbed for taking bribe of Rs 60 thousand to furnish favourable reports in a mutation case.
The accused RI of Gandanali RI circle has been identified as Sashi Bhusan Behera and the private person has been identified as Bishnu Ballav Khatua.
As per reports, a short while ago today Sashi Bhusan Behera, Revenue Inspector ( RI), Gandanali Revenue Circle under Hindol Tahasil, Dist.-Dhenkanal has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance along with Bishnu Ballav Khatua (Private Person) inside the office chamber of RI, Behera, while demanding and taking bribe of Rs.60,000 from a complainant.
Reportedly they were taking the bribe to process applications and to furnish favorable report in four mutation cases in favour of the complainant.
As per reports, despite several requests made by the complainant, Behera was not initiating his applications and demanding bribe Rs.15,000 per each mutation case and a total of Rs.60,000 to get his work done.
Finding no other way, the complainant reported the matter to Vigilance authorities alleging harassment by Behera, RI. Following the complaint, Vigilance sleuths nabbed RI Behera today while taking bribe Rs,60,000 from the complainant through Khatua ( Private Person).
The entire bribe money Rs.60,000 has been recovered from possession of both the accused persons Behera and Khatua and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations associated with Behera, RI from DA angle.
In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No.13/2025, U/s-7PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against accused persons.
