Rise in Day Temperatures in Odisha; SRC directs to prepare Heatwave Action Plan

Bhubaneswar, Mar 4: As there is a rise in temperature in Odisha from March first week, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) PK Mohapatra directed all the departments to prepare heatwave action plan for this summer. From March itself, temperatures are 2 degrees higher than the normal average degree and the meteorological department are forecasting much heat this summer. The heat waves from South-Western direction especially from Telengana and Rayalaseema in Andhra Pradesh are resulting in high temperatures in Odisha. On Friday, the capital city recorded 38 degree C whereas temperatures reached 40 at Angul, Titlagarh and Jharsuguda. The Regional Meteorological Centre here said that Mercury during the daytime, which has begun to soar in last couple of days, is likely to remain at those levels for few more days.
